Heard, seen, respected
This is one of those structures with a narrower scope, where the prompts are pre-defined.
In practice
This structure would be a wonderful connection building activity in a project kickoff. I could imagine facilitating a shared lived experience of members opening up their hearts and modeling what it's like to see each other.
It would be especially powerful for a population with scar tissue from past interactions. If done well, it could start to heal old wounds, with the energy channeled into new interaction patterns in a follow-up activity.
Workshop design notes
The quality of insight from the structure relies on a pairs’ ability to self-harvest quickly. Some people are good at this while most need a certain degree of context or time to digest. For others, abstraction is not their forte.
In certain contexts, I’d designate the groupings to tip the scales.
This entry is part of an ongoing series of Field notes from my Liberating Structures practice.
